Holding On (70×50)

Artist's Statement

Holding On was created during a deeply emotional period while someone very close to me was in hospital. It became a way of expressing emotions that were difficult to put into words. Every movement of the paint reflects a journey through uncertainty, hope, and inner strength.

The contrast of deep blacks, smoky whites, subtle blues, and flowing gold creates a balance between darkness and light. The composition speaks of resilience—the determination to keep moving forward even when life feels uncertain. Rather than focusing on despair, this piece is about hope, endurance, and the quiet strength we find in difficult moments.

A final layer of clear resin enhances the depth of the colours, creating a rich, glass-like finish that changes beautifully as light moves across the surface.
